This is a book of infinite depth and dimension, with an immeasurable wealth of knowledge and personal experience. This book reflects Steve's demonstrative spirit and never ending love and devotion to Star Trek and what Gene Roddenberry's dream stands for. It took me where I've never gone before. Well done Steve.
This book is not only informative, but entertaining. The history of Star Trek merchandising is here in this book. NOTE: This book has collectibles from the original Star Trek and the movies with the original cast; it has only a few from the other Start Trek series (TNG, DS9, etc).
I've been looking for an updated collectibles guide for some time now when I stumbled upon this one and I'm VERY happy with it. It only covers the Original series of the show but Steve's book covers the first items produced back in the 60's all the way up to when this book was published. Filled with pictures of every type of item ever produced, collectors like myself appreciate both a written and visual look at these treasures. That along with the general two tier estimating pricing guide (Mint-in-box and Mint-out-of-box) made me feel like this was a great purchase that I'll go back to again and again.
No Master Replica items in this book either which makes it really incomplete for a decent collector. Somewhat disappointed in this book because 99% of what's in it is the "cereal box" genre items rather than the high quality props and memorabilia. Info is very limited on the items with little or no background data. I got it for about $11 so it's not too bad but I would not have paid the full $25 for it. Still keeping an eye out for a real complete collectors book.
Loved the book. I have been collecting Star Trek items since I was a child and this is by far the best book on the subject of Star Trek collectibles. I wish a book like this was around years ago. The book is organized very well and has some of the best photographs of hard to find Star Trek items that I have even seen. All I can say is EXCELLENT. After reading, I am inclined to improve my collection by searching for items that I never knew existed. Great job.
